規則摘要
Overview
Your goal is to earn the most points by building Landscapes for animals. These are represented with colored tokens arranged a certain way. The more arrangements you have, the more points you can earn.
Game Features
Tokens can be one of six colors.
- 23 blue tokens (representing water)
- 23 grey tokens (representing mountains)
- 21 brown tokens (representing woody trees)
- 19 green tokens (representing foliage or treetops)
- 19 yellow tokens (representing fields)
- 15 red tokens (representing buildings)
Animal cards indicate a Landscape arrangement you can form on your Personal board. Each Animal card has a set of Animal cubes in the upper right. If you make the arrangement shown on the card, you can place an Animal cube on that Landscape (on the token indicated). At the end of the game, you will earn points for the bottommost empty Animal cube space. Once all the cubes on a card are gone, the card is discarded, making room for another.
Gameplay
On a given turn, the player can take three actions in any order. One is mandatory, two are optional.
Mandatory Action
On each turn, the player must choose and place tokens. The Central board holds five sets of three colored tokens. A player must choose one set of these tokens and place them on their board/map. The token must be on an unoccupied space or on top of certain previously placed tokens (more on that in a minute).
- You cannot place a token underneath another token.
- You cannot place a token on top of an Animal cube
This diagram demonstrates which tokens can be put on which. Water and fields cannot have any tokens on top of them. A red token (building) can go on top of a gray (mountain lookout), brown (treehouse), or other red token (tower). Gray can go on other gray tokens to make taller mountains, up to a stack of three. Brown (wood) and green (leaves/foliage) can go on a brown token to make a taller trunk or a tree. Green can go on top of two brown tokens to make a very tall tree.
Optional Actions
Take an Animal card
Five Animal cards are available. Each has a different Landscape that grants Animal cubes (which score points). You can only take 1 card per turn. You can only have up to four Animal cards.
Place an Animal cube
If you have placed a valid pattern from an Animal card on your Personal board, you can take an Animal cube from that card and place it on the token indicated. Cubes must be taken from top to bottom.
At the end of a turn, the Animal cards are replenished and the Central board is restocked with tokens.
End of Game
The game ends when either...
- There are no tokens left to refill the central board.
- A player has 2 or fewer empty spaces on their board. The game continues until all players have completed the same number of turns, then ends.
Scoring
Animal cards
For each Animal card you gained, you score the points indicated in the topmost square without an Animal cube. A card with all its cubes still on it will score 0.
Landscapes
Each player scores points for the Landscapes on their Personal board that match certain features.
| Token | Formation | Scoring |
|---|---|---|
| Tree | 1 green token placed on top of 0, 1, or 2 brown tokens | A bush (single green token) earns 1 point. A tree (green on top of brown) scores 3 points. A tall tree (green on top of two brown tokens) scores 7 points. Note: Brown token(s) with no green token on top score 0 points. |
| Mountain | A stack of 1, 2, or 3 gray tokens | If the mountain is adjacent to another mountain, a stack of 1/2/3 scores scores 1/3/7 points. If the mountain is alone, it scores 0 points. |
| Field | 2 or more adjacent yellow tokens | Five points for each Field formed by 2 or more contiguous yellow tokens. Note that you do not earn more points for bigger fields. Five is the most for any single field. Therefore, the best strategy is to make small groups separated from each other. |
| Building | 1 red token on top of a red, brown, or gray token | Each Building scores 5 points if it is adjacent to at least three tokens of different colors'. When considering color, only the topmost token is counted. |
| Water | Adjacent blue tokens (varies) | If you are using Side A of the Personal board, your score is taken from your longest continuous chain of blue tokens that connects using the shortest path (including the two tokens at either end of the chain). A chain of 2/3/4/5/6 blue tokens scores 2/5/8/11/15 points. Each token beyond six scores 4 additional points. If you are using Side B of the Personal board, each land area separated from another by a chain of blue tokens (an island) scores 5 points. |
Variants
Spirit Cards
Nature's Spirit cards provide additional scoring conditions. During setup, you must choose between 2 randomly selected Nature's Spirit cards. This card counts as one of your four cards.
Nature's Spirit cards work similarly to Animal cards, but have more complex Landscape arrangements. Some score points for the number of Landscapes placed. Others score points for groups of connected Landscapes.
