Paris, at the turn of the twentieth century. You are an artist wandering the streets, striving to create masterpieces, embarking on romantic escapades, seeking inspiration and trying to keep misery at bay. Welcome to a Bohemian’s life!
As a struggling artist, your stomach may be empty, but your head is overflowing with ambition. You have rejected the monotony of mainstream society to chase the sublime. Your journey is defined by your routine, a fragile collection of habits that either push you toward greatness or trap you in cycles of misery. The game is played over three phases: the Wake Up Phase, where you plan your daily routine by playing Habit and Muse cards; the Day Phase, where you narrate your story, count your earned Inspiration, and spend it to acquire new cards or gain one of the coveted Achievement cards; and the Sleep Phase, where BGA does things nobody else wants to do…
You got it right: Bohemians is a card game. Each card you play is a hearbeat, a moment of inspiration captured on canvas, stage, or page, while every hardship you endure serves as a poignant reminder of the cost of your artistic freedom.
This is also a game about transformation, where inspiration is your currency, and if not spent immediately, it is stored in the Atelier, a sanctuary where you spend it to trigger powerful effects. Your goal is to become the most famous artist of your time by earning five Achievement cards. Each one represents the peak of your hard work and shows how you overcame your struggles.
Gather your courage, perfect your craft, and leave your true legacy. Will you find fame, or will you be forgotten by history?
