Although this would slightly speed up the game, it would also create confusion.

Sometimes the game will "auto add" a button and sometimes the game will "auto remove all buttons". Ofcourse which case depends on if you have exactly 1 position to add to, or no position to add to, but from the players point of view it might be hard to determine which of the two just happened and it might create situations where the player thought they would get a free button but actually lost the round. It would thus not create a good experience for especially newer players of the game.

I guess one could do the even more ambitious thing and add this as a client option where you can choose to use this auto add or not. But we do not have developer resources for that upgrade for this game right now unfortunately.
