It would take up less space and be easier to see if cards of the same faction were overlapped vertically. Maybe if you click / hover over them, they could spread out?

Thank you, it was actually my first design choice, but i had an issue when a player has to select a visible card from another player
In this case : either I spread vertically and this can make the page too large vertically with 4+ players and if one player has too much cards of the same faction, or I align them horizontally only during the selection but i'm scared it could become confusion
I'm open to any idea :)

What if either:
1. It is in a stack (one for each faction), and it has the number beneath it. That means you only need 4 (5 if king / queens / friend in play). When you hover, it spreads out to the side / down.
2. It is in a vertical half-overlapped layout, and when you hover it spreads down. Could take up vertical space, but it would look cool!

New game preferences (appear in the three-line hamburger menu in the top corner of the bga menu) has been added for a vertical player board layout.
