Yes, I tried leaving turn-based table a few times while it was the other player's turn (Waiting for players) but it showed both of us with hourglass and showed I had that table waiting for me.

I started this game today. Looking at the game, there isn't anything suggesting it is my turn. But the icon on the BGA main page that says it is my turn has a notification on it for this game as though it is my turn.
I've decided all my construction etc. and am waiting for my opponent to do the same.

On Planning phase, completed planning and clicked to go back to games list. On games list shows I have game, when I click it takes me to table at the end of my planning. Icon on planning list shows it is my turn, going to game shows I've completed turn and have nothing to do.
