案件沿革
In the original bugreport (by @TomFoo) this seems to be happening when the doubler was in the red zone already. Also it still worked in turn 38, but probably didn't work in turn 60 (that looked like a quite reasonable moment to use)
@SmellyMcGee, can you tell me if your doubler was in the blue or the red area when it resisted working?

However the cube itself is not clickable if you mouse over.
However, if I slightly move the mouse up or left from the cube, but still staying in the cube area, it becomes clickable, and works as expected (consider it as a WORKAROUND, until there is a fix, although you would have a hard time doing this on a smartphone)
investigation revealed that the issue is coming from the fact that the game maintains the blue cube zones of the cards that are already deployed in the top. In general it does not cause issues, but once you start seriously stacking them on the top of eachoter they might cover clickable areas. In this case the third card deployed above the doubler: SHCHIRRA 9069-D can hold 3 cubes in the blue area.
