Once players have used advanced placement, their workers are locked in and cannot be moved. It would be much better if players whose turn has not yet arrived could cancel and reconsider their placements until their turn came around.

I agree with this suggestion, and see that a similar option is implemented in other games like Agricola and Terraforming Mars. In those games, everyone is drafting simultaneously, but your choice isn't locked in (ie there is still an opportunity to change your mind) if other players are still thinking. Barenpark also has a similar "planning stage" where you plan ahead and lock in you move when it is your turn.
I think this option would encourage players to use the simultaneous planning stage more, especially in turn based games.

If you do this, you could add an option to "skip confirmation" in order to keep it as now to speed up gameplay.
