Thanks for reporting this bug holf.
After looking at the replay, it seems that you couldn't play a card because you were on the first action of an "Advanced Battlefield" game. The first action when playing on the "Advanced" (vs "Standard") battlefield is always to choose the starting position and stance of your samurai. This instruction is stated in the action bar, and there are highlighted diamonds on the battlefield for you to interact with to confirm your action.
I am marking this as "notabug" and if you have any more questions or concerns, I would love to jump on a game with you and discuss them.
