Epic Elixir rules clarification reads:Upon playing, start a full turn sequence
However, after using it,
- I did not get to reveal new tiles
- I did not get to move my explorer
- I am not allowed to buy an item again (although I have enough money) -

Hmm, after continuing and skipping the optional actions here, I did get a full extra turn after all.
So probably I was just confused because I thought my current turn already ended with playing the Epic Elixir.
But these were still the remaining optional actions from that turn, and the extra turn had not started yet.

Yes, you may declare the Epic Elixir anytime during your turn, but the extra turn only starts after the current one. You may also cancel it first, if you change your mind.
