I saw similar tickets about otters but I think this is still different. I played this on mobile but I'm reporting on my computer. I went back through the game and took screenshots to show how I would count DenJaki's points vs how the game counted them. We had a chat about the scoring after the game around the points for round 5. It doesn't make sense to me though.
The scoring sounds like each animal should be counted only once but they are clearly being counted more than once according to the images. I know you need to leave the wording as the publisher displayed it. But is it currently counting as the publisher intended? • 你的瀏覽器是什麼？

To be clear, I agree with the scoring in round 2. It's 4 and 5 I disagree with. Didn't review the other two players, just the one since I'd never seen otters played that way and was curious about it.

Yes, it is counting as intended. The issue here is that the scoring is based on identical animals around the SAME otter (not any otter). So you count identical animals around each otter. Starting from the leftmost column and working down each and counting each otter, here's how each round scores:
Round 2: 2, 2, 4 (2x2), 2 = 10
Round 4: 2, 2, 3, 4, 2, 2, 4, 2, 2 = 23
Round 5: 2, 2, 3, 4, 2, 2, 3, 2 = 20
The problem to me is that the wording on the tooltip needs to say "same/single" - ie. "1 per identical animal
if at least 2 of them are orthogonally adjacent to the SAME otter." or "1 per identical animal
if at least 2 of them are orthogonally adjacent to a single otter."
I realise the publisher's description in the rules is as per the tooltip, but it really isn't clear. I'm wondering if this is a translation issue from the original French. As the English implies orthogonal adjacency to ANY otter would give you the points, but maybe the French would intend you're referring to a single otter?

Interesting. I went back and checked the points calc for my board and your math works there as well to match the game calc. It still seems busted that a single animal counts more than once as long as multiple otters are touching it, but I do at least understand the math currently being used. Still curious to know if the designer really intended it to be calculated the way it is working now though. Maybe it really is an issue of translation. Thanks nik592 for explaining it.

I added this clarification to the wording as it’s done in the french rule: (4 points max per otter)
