This report intrigued me, because oh right, the dice have 6 sides and nowhere does it say what values each die has.
So, apparently, the "Have to play" "Game play" section below the game informs the sides are numbered 1-6. This appears to be wrong. I checked the linked manuals and they're bad with not informing about the dice values at all.
Finally, I found a video (from Dice Tower) that solved the mystery: the doubled number is a "5". So the values are indeed 1-5, with a higher chance for 5, and the game is correct, just the player wiki is wrong.

for your information: For English and German language, I added information about these distributions to the wiki, so it will be visible in the "How to play" section soon.

It's very confusing that the BGA rules say "Each player rolls 8 dice. 4 of the dice have the 6 criminals on them and the other 4 have number vales from 1 (snake eye) to 6." as there are no 6s. This seems like it would be a simple change to make the text of the rules accurate.
