The only indication of how many trains are in each pile is visually seeing the stack, where the offset from the next train token in the stack is just a few pixels; this can be very difficult to see.

It would be good if the number of tokens in the stack were superimposed on e.g. the corner of the stack, or even better if the tooltip when you hover over the stack showed the total number of tokens left in the stack. (Same for returned factory tokens, maybe?)
