However, when my opponent finished off a road that I was on and had the fairy on, they got the 3 points, not me. -

Now, despite the log's clearly showing who received the fairy points, when I replay last moves, I notice the on-screen graphic showing +3 in my colour on the tile with the fairy (alongside all the +2 and +4 for the various city tiles). Moreover, my score went from 67 to 80 during my opponent's turn: +3 for the fairy and +14 for the city.
So, this appears to me not to be a bug with how points are awarded, but simply an error in the log, based on whoever's turn it is when the feature is completed.
I must also note how strange it is that a bug marked "confirmed" would be left unaddressed for so long: first report in July of 2020, and a follow-up later that day and one in August, and no further action whatsoever through January 2022. :-/
