I had a game get to about 2,500 moves. I understand this might be purely a problem with the BGA backend and the way games are loaded but it would take 90 seconds to load the table!

This has been an annoyance to me as well. It would be nice if there was a way to delete the log history after completing a mission so that it starts fresh for each new mission and the loading time can be reduced.

Agree with bgilmartin 3 - we only really need a log for the mission currently underway, the complete log is far too long.

Playing the campaign. Mission 26 w/ 45 total attempts (learning experience for most of us). Can confirm, it takes way too long to load the log!!!
I think it would be adequate to show the current mission log and the result of previous missions. Maybe like so:

I agree. Only need a log for the current mission. My group complains about the same thing with having to load the entire log.

I've gotten to Mission 36 with friends in campaign mode and I'm pretty sure the game chat included everything from mission one which means the game chat takes FOREVER to load!

Yeah, loading the entire history is completely unnecessary, and detracts greatly from the enjoyment of the game.
I'd suggest either only loading the history, for the current mission; or better yet, just have a grid of all possible cards and showing which ones have already been played out, during the current mission.

I think if BGA can work out a way to clear the history between missions? so it trims M-1 (leaving only the current mission, and one mission previously in the log) that would be the ideal solution.

I just wonder why this game does this.
Other games don't walk you through game history - its just there if you want to go see it. (saving cases where it is deliberately hidden of course)

This is indeed a problem when playing turn-based if the browser is opened again.
A solution could be to load only the last N actions and loading N more actions on demand by clicking the arrows at the bottom of the log display.
This would also decrease server traffic loads.

Also agree that only the current or most recent mission's history is of pertinent value - loading the entire campaign's worth of individual tricks is a giant resource hog and delays returning to a turn-based game.

Alternatively, an option to turn the log off or hide it entirely would not only solve this issue but would be truer to the real game since you're not suppose to see the cards that have been played. Adding this option as a button or just in the settlings would be a great addition, especially for advanced players.

This needs fixing. On mission 43 and it's pretty unbearable. Just moves in current mission are required. Otherwise, great job.

Agreed - this is essential. I'm up to mission 29 and the game is becoming unplayable.
Either just show the last 2-3 mission or give a button to clear history.

Nothing I can do on my side, that's a framework issue so it should be addressed by admins.
If you started your table in campaign mode, you can just leave it at the end of a mission and hit "rematch", that will re-start at the same point without loosing any progression.

What I do in that case is cancelling the next mission and then 'propose a rematch'. if you then choose campain you start at the same mission as you left of, if the game is with exactly the same people

Yeah, that's basically what we did.
We finished a mission, abandoned the game and started a new one at the next mission.

I think I once reported it as such, can't be sure.
The basic idea is that the framework should allow game to define natural breakpoints and the game would only keep info down to the last or previous last or previous previous... (configurable per game) breakpoint.
The tricky part is that the game must be able to restart from such a breakpoint without executing all the prior actions. This requires to save enough information in some kind of state object to properly reproduce the "board". (For instance, if you have a game where tokens can be placed on top of one another, you would need to redraw those tokens taking that piling up into consideration from a global state as you would no longer be able to always replay the actions that led to this piling up)

This is also a huge problem for turn-based Nippon lately. Every time I open the game I'm forced to reload several times to get all moves, at least after we passed 100+ moves. It just stops loading randomly after 100+ moves.
Tonight 2021-10-29, I already tried reload 4-5 times, still no luck getting all history. Very frustrating, plus it also puts unnecessary load on your servers.

Could this be a problem with not the game by itself, but another problem with the quantity of games you are playing? I have problems in all the games, and I currently playing 30+ turn based games...
