I totally agree that the current turn counter is not very effective, as it leads to ambiguity.
1 remaining round: does it mean that the current one is the last one, or will there be another?
My suggestion is to have a more clear indication as: Round 4/5
This leaves no doubt.
Had that in mind for a while, but I just lost a tournament by 2 points because I didn't realized it was the last turn (and could easily have made those two points in my last turn).
