Making a double click as an action is not perfect for UX.
It can probably be done in a different way, but it feels to me that UX is currently pretty good.

Alternatively, it could be done so that the player merely clicks on the piece and the options to rotate AND/or relocate could appear.

Yay, if double clicks are an issue, just let us like... drag it out of the board, for example. ("suppr" key on selection could be a nice addition too, but far less necessary.)
