Before the first move the full board was showing. Then when the first move was made just the six positions where I could put my checker where highlighting, showing nothing else.
This continued throughout the game

F5 didn't solve the problem. It happened in the first gopher game I played as well.

This is the second report of an interface problem with an outdated Firefox version. Firefox v5 is ten years old.
There's nothing I can do to accommodate antique Firefox versions. Please upgrade to Firefox version 88.0.1 (or higher). It runs Gopher without issue.

Sorry for the duplicate bug. I noticed it after I had reported it, but I couldn't find a way to remove it.
For the browser I'm using, that is Firefox 88.0.1. Mozilla v5 was auto filled when I reported the issue and I wrongly assumed that since it was filled you somehow read it from the browser itself.
So I'm using the latest version of Firefox and that still has this bug (at least for me).

Oh I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Now I know you're using the latest Firefox version, I don't know what to tell you. Have you tried it on another device?

I played around a bit. It turns out that the DuckDuckGo addon I use in Firefox causes this to happen. After disabling it, the problem went away. Not sure what the reason is for this, none of the other games I played so far had this problem.

I have exactly the same problem on Firefox (88.0.1 64-bit on Windows, latest version), every time I play(ed) the game.
A workaround is to open the page in Edge on the side, but I still lost a game because of added confusion it caused.
I don't have DuckDuckGo, but may AdBlock+ be a problem ? Next time I play I may try to disable it.
(Like Bart-Jan, I have never experienced this problem on other games.)

Gopher has been played thousands of times with only a tiny percentage of Firefox users having a problem. The vast majority of Firefox users, and all other browser users haven't had any issues. There’s nothing sinister about the Gopher program. It’s just a copy of the Reversi program with the board and game logic swapped out. Try disabling extensions and add-ons. Let me know how it works out. Thanks.

Coming back a few days later, nothing has changed (same Firefox version, I have not touched any extension, AdBlocker still running), and now Gopher works fine.
