I had the same issue. In the above table both players purple and yellow had one shared spot where both parties would have been able to build a settlement regarding the rules. i was not allowed to build my settlement although I was also there. the spot between clay 6 and wood 4. In this situation the first one to build the settlement wins. I couldn't although i had also build my road correctly and had gathered all resources. Instead I had to build somewhere else. I did win the game though but I could have won it earlier.

Lordalx is wrong and this has been settled on the official FAQ for Catan years ago. Please look up the rules before you comment. The building of a settlement between the roads of an opponent must be corrected. It ruins the play of the game.

Here is the official faq regarding this :
Longest Road - How can I interrupt an opponent's Longest Road?
By building a settlement on an intersection of the Longest Road. Needless to say that you must observe all building rules when doing this.
