Wanted to select a card from my hand. However, was only able to select the 2nd card in my hand to play during a 2 person game

Tried selecting the desired card. Never got the “play card” button at the top. The play card button only appeared when the 2nd card was selected to play. I also refreshed website and still didn’t work.
