The Karma system doesn't punish quitters hard enough, especially when quitting at the end of long games. I am proposing a change to the karma loss where the loss becomes the percentage of the game that was completed when they quit.
This makes the punishment more proportional to the offense, and hopefully increases the incentive for players to complete games like they should.
There can still be a minimum karma penalty of 5-10 points, but someone quitting at the end of a game should be penalized more than someone quitting at the beginning or forgetting to show up at the start of an Arena game.

It's extremely frustrating to play an entire game, be winning, and have the other player just not take a turn on the final round to lock the game.

there are many reasons may cause a quit: connection, electricity, crash, emergency... don't blame someone if you're not sure what cause the quit.

I agree with e1q3z9c7. There are many valid reasons to quit and there shouldn't be a harsh penalty for people who are dealing with something unavoidable in the real world.

I basically agree with this suggestion for treating misuse of quitting, but I also advocate for incorporating a hardship regulation (e. g. karma loss of only 10% if it happens not more often than once in 200 games). We shouldn't destroy the reputation of a player who just had some bad luck (like an emergency, power failure,...).

To get around the challenge of not penalizing due to an emergency/outage situation, then how about an escalating perentage. Say 5 to 10% for the first occurrence during some period (30-60 days?) - that's easy to recover from and can still join 85% tables, 10 to 20% for the second time, 20 to 40% for the third, etc., doubling each time.

I think I'm also with Cigma on this. There is the continued frustration of people not knowing arena matches have auto-started and getting kicked due to being afk or worse playing in a TB game and not getting a warning (it's happened to me). That needs to be handled differently than a deliberate quitter. Better still just prevent it, require a confirm to launch the game with anonymised player details until the game launches. It's a really simple fix that has been proposed many times and it has so far gone unheeded.
Several bug reports show a lot of people are unhappy with the way arena launches.
