Suppose this situation, yellow is on a valid position, ready to brake and slide into the corner.
Red plays first, takes the shortcut and add a second "-1' token to the tile.
Now yellow has nowhere to go : she can't take the shortcut form this position and the corner is now fully closed.
So, some kind of exceptional measure is needed in this rare scenario.
I have asked people's opinion about this edge case on bgk
boardgamegeek.com/thread/2965914/doomed
His solution is to allow to enter the shortcut from the outer lane once the corner is completely closed because of tokens.
