I am seeing this too. In my case It happens across multiple devices, browsers and BGA accounts. It does however seem to be somehow specific to the broadband connection in use (AT&T DSL in the US). The same device receives the updates normally if I move it to a different network.

I'm having the same problem today too. All of my turn based games got stuck in the "move recorded, waiting for update" stage on every single move. Once I left it until my screen went black but it still didn't update without refreshing the browser page. My internet is working normally on other websites.

I am experiencing this same issue. It is the first time I've seen it since I joined. It was working fine yesterday, and today each game action requires a page refresh to move on. These are all turn based games.

Same here on various turn based games. I can complete my turns if I refresh the page in between every click, but after 2 or 3 turns figured it wasn't worth it...

Seeing this issue on turn based games, using both iPhone and Desktop browsers. Can play by constantly refreshing but makes some things impossible, like viewing decks in Arnak for example.

On all my turn-based games, I always get the "move recorded, waiting for update", currently soft-locked (except undoing it) in a game of Kingdom Builder because refresh will not fix the move recorded when using a location tile (move settlement).

Everything was operating normally this morning, but as soon as I loaded in the afternoon the same thing happened to 10 turn-based games when I logged back in. F5 does solve the problem, but only so far as refreshing each choice, not the overall update delay. It happens after every choice.

Manually refreshing does not work with every game because some of them don't activate a button to complete the action unless it gets a response from the server. Railways of the World won't let me complete a build or deliver action but I can upgrade my engine because the confirmation on that is a local dialog with no response needed from the server.

Started today, I have to refresh after every click (selecting tiles, placing tiles, confirming move) really slows down the game - happening on my computer, iPad and phone. I'm encountering this issue across all my games (I only play turn based). It's happened on Chrome and Edge. Even after clearing Chrome cookies. Also happening on mobile (Android)
However, based on a previous user mentioning network, I switched from wifi/home internet (uses Bell Canada) to mobile data (uses Telus) and it worked correctly there.
Also, F5 fixes it for everything except Kingdom Builder. I literally could not complete my move (using Paddock) while on the original network.

for move intensive games like Hadrian's Wall take a long time to do your 20-30+ moves for a year.
Some games don't let you complete a sequence of moves like Flip Freighters trying to use the overtime function. Refreshing removes the overtime option being selected.

This is currently happening for me in multiple games (meridians, table gype, caravan). In table gype I have to press F5 to update the page after every phase of my move. In meridians I had to disable the "confirm" button to be continue to play, as while I could tentatively place a piece, I'd then get the "move recorded, waiting on update" message, and pressing F5 put me back at the start of the move rather than displaying the confirm button. In caravan I can move camels but can't move cargo: when I pick a camel to move, I can then place it, but when I pick a cargo to move, the game wants to update to indicate which camels I can move the cargo to ("move recorded ..."), but pressing F5 puts me back before selecting the cargo rather than displaying the possible locations to which it could be moved. Caravan is unplayable in this state.

Same problem here, for all my games, on both Android tablet and PC (both Firefox and Chrome). For most games, I get around it with F5 (a bit clunky, but doable), but in Roll for the Galaxy, it makes the game unplayable:
I need to ship something, click to choose ship, click to choose good, and get the "Move recorded, waiting for update" message immediately, before I can choose if I want to gain money or victory points. F5 undoes my selection, so I'm back to choosing ship and good again. Thus I'm unable to complete the action, and unable to finish my turn.
This problem is fairly new for me, it appeared a few days ago or thereabouts.

It helps if I connect through mobile data and disable VPN (I normally use Google VPN on my phone)

Same issue on Safari iOS 17.2.1 and on the computer on Chrome. Happened yesterday as well. Then this morning was fine. Then around 1600h EST started again and behavior is still continuing - have to F5 after every single click (so in Carcassone twice per turn, Azul as well etc. etc.)

This is an old bug report from 2023, when a similar problem happened but was later resolved.
Although the symptom is the same, there's no guarantee it's actually the same problem as happened a year ago.

This happens to me as well. All devices (windows laptop, iPad, Android phone), different browsers and both on wifi and mobile network
The problem is that with the game Luxor, I just can't finish my move, because after F5, the game goes back to the original state (boardgamearena.com/9/luxor?table=458627526)

This started for me today. Refreshing the page only makes my move show up. I have to refresh every time I click something. In Gizmos it is super annoying because it updates and needs to be refreshed with every click. One turn takes 6 refreshes. This is happening on my computer and my ipad.

Same problem - after making move there is no automatic update. Issue persists across multiple devices; phone, tablet, desktop.
Turn off wifi on phone (go on mobile data) and the issue is gone. Turn wifi back on, issue returns. Huh?

F5 helps for me in most games, however in Railways of the World it's unplayable if you intend on delivering goods (which is half the point of the game). Hopefully there's a fix soon.

Having the same issue with every single turn-based game I'm playing right now.
F5 normally works to refresh and let me finish the move, but will not work in Seasons (Table #462080683). When I select gems to transmute, it gets stuck on "Move recorded, waiting for update..." and if I hit F5, it'll just uncheck the gems to transmute and make me select them again, getting re-stuck on "Move recorded".

Perhaps it's a networking issue? Could depend on where players are located compared to your servers. Where are all the BGA admins located? May relate to network latency. Perhaps the BGA API calls are timing out?

In the Lobby, none of the tables are refreshing. So if I refresh the Lobby, by the time I click to join a table, it is already full (even though it still appears to have open spots). No new tables appear until I refresh again. When I do automatic table choice, it still doesn't seem to work.

I disconnected from my wifi on my phone. I'm using my mobile data and I don't have the problem. I have a computer that still connect to my wifi and it has the refresh problem. It might have do with internet in the states. Not sure, just guessing.

I disconnected from wifi and connected on a mobile hotspot and the issue is resolved, BGA works normally.
When I connect back to wifi I have the same problems as before with "Move Recorded, waiting for update...". I am in the USA also, if that can possibly matter.

Had this problem in November (earlier comment in this thread). Lasted a few days then magically fixed. As of today, it's back for me. So, there has been no temporary fix as the developers noted earlier today. Please figure out what's going on and fix this permanently. It makes this site I pay for nearly unusable.

Currently we are playing a turn-based game of Earth, and 3 of the 5 players are experiencing this refresh issue. I am experiencing it on Chrome Mac Version 120.0.6099.216. One player experiencing the problem is using Orion and Firefox on a Mac. One player experiencing the problem is using Firefox and Edge on Windows. Of the two players not experiencing the problem both are on Chrome on Windows.

Huh, just saw the above comment and checked on my phone when I disconnected from wifi and used only cellular data and it's true for me as well. I'm no computer scientist, so I don't know what would cause the site to fail for people on wifi but be OK on cellular. Actually kind of fascinating... I've seen sites have errors for certain types of devices or certain browsers, but never for wifi users only...

Bga, please check your server side for packet loss. I have had issues with the games on bga all browsers, all devices. As of 10:15 pm Washington DC, I started pinging Bga and I'm getting 80 ms to 170 ms with every 5th packet being high. I'm thinking the issues are server side if you need me to help run testing, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I don't think it's all servers though. I think some may be overloaded from demand on a holiday and crappy weather. Let me know if I can help.

Additional information from our testing- one of our players experiencing the problem switched from our home wifi (on AT&T) to tethering on cellular through their phone, and it is now working for them. Another person affected by the issue tried switching to their cellular but it did not fix the problem for them.

Have tried emptying the cache/ history etc.
Last game I was playing without this problem was Photosynthesis last night.

I'm was also getting this in a turn based game today. Great Western Trail, Table id: 462099821. Turn based - Friendly mode. I'm using the chrome app on a mobile device, Pixel 8 Pro, on wifi. F5/refreshing the page fixes the issue, but then the bug occurs on the next part/step of my turn, and I have to refresh again.
This was occuring all day, even after force closing and reopening chrome. Confirmed, this seems to be tied to something about wifi, at least in my anecdotal case. I turned wifi back on and refreshed my game after it was "fixed", and the bug returned. It seems to only occur when I'm on wifi, however this did not happen to me on my old phone while I was on wifi, so I'm unsure what the exact issue is.
Wifi is Xfinity, Mobile service is Metro by T-Mobile, current device is Pixel 8 Pro

I can also confirm that this happens to me on my computer which is connected to my cable internet (Spectrum) (not WiFi, Cat5 through two routers to the modem), and when my phone is connected to the cable internet via WiFi. But when I switched my phone to use the cellular network (Cricket), I didn't have this problem. I switched it back to WiFi/cable internet, it reappeared.

I’ve seen people having this issue for a while in the general chat, but hadn't seen the problem myself until last night during a turn-based game of boop. I made a move, but the display didn't update and it had the "Move Recorded, waiting for update..." message. I refreshed, and saw the confirm timer counting down, but my move wasn't reflected on the game board. After the confirm timer finished counting down, I refreshed and only then could I see the results of the move I made. I saw it in a couple other turn-based games too - boop was just the first one I saw it in. It lasted a few hours and things are fine for me at the moment…
Something interesting I noticed looking at the server status page, using number of moves played for the last month, if I go back in time, it looks like server 11 wasn’t introduced until Dec 5 and has been in continuous use since. Server 12 didn’t seem to exist before December either and only has a blip of data around Dec 13-15 and hasn’t had activity since. Something interesting I noticed looking at the server status page, using number of moves played for the last month, if I go back in time, it looks like server 11 wasn’t introduced until Dec 5 and has been in continuous use since. Server 12 didn’t seem to exist before December either and only has a blip of data around Dec 13-15 and hasn’t had activity since. all BGA's websockets are broken through my ISP xfinity, because the server's traffic through the websocket never reaches my browser. somewhere along the line, the traffic is being dropped.
because of peering agreements among various carriers, traffic in the two directions between internet hosts may not follow the same network path. and therefore that traffic encounters different rules. someone modified a rule somewhere so that bga's socket pushes are not reaching some of us.
i'd readily blame xfinity for my problems, but since its affecting others the problem is probably somewhere further up the line. but complaining to your ISP is the only way to get a network engineer to investigate and open an issue with their colleagues at their peers.

It is indeed something networking. alephander may be correct.
I just tried using VPN and when I connect to some servers (USA, Canada) I get the issue while when I connect to some other servers (France), it works fine. Though it may be providers and not countries, didn't check every single server.
So if you still don't know how to reproduce the issue, get some VPN and try different servers in turn based game.

It happened to me too several times.
It's a bit annoying, but if I keep refreshing the page I mostly can play my move...
However, at this moment I'm playing Kingdom Builder and want to use a tile. Therefor I want to move a settlement, but after selecting the one I want to move the game stalls... If I refresh the page I have to select the settlement again and the pages 'freezes' again... 😔

Having to press F5 after every send to server action is obnoxious, but that seems to be the only fix at the moment. I've cleared my cache, tried different browsers and computers. I haven't tried using a VPN, but I'm not going to set one of those up to play on BGA.

i suspect an API bug in which either there is a too-short timeout or a clock mismatch resulting in responses being tossed out. But that's jsut from the hip. I'm mostly wondering if it would be safe for me to try realtime games, but i don't seem to be able to get into them, so i guess that's my answer.

To understand the issue better, we did some internal test changes related to all our game servers. Everyone will be connected to a temporary server, which will help us diagnose and solve the issue. It will not impact the way you play on BGA. Thanks to this change, we expect to solve the "F5" issue on turn-based tables. The issue seems to be related to the network (seems to happen just before reaching our servers), so it's really difficult for us to diagnose it because we don't have a hand in this network section.
Please keep in mind we are working hard to solve this issue ASAP. Please keep us updated if you still encounter the "F5" issue.

Last night (about 8-9 hours ago) I had this issue as well. When i woke up and saw the maintenance banner, it was working again. As of 15 minutes ago I am back to having the error and needing to refresh every move.
So based on your above message, it seemed to be fine when I was connected to the temporary server. Now that I no longer see the maintenance banner, I'm getting the error again.

I encountered it again a few minutes ago while playing wingspan (id: 460582800) on Firefox. Got the "Move Recorded, waiting for update..." message and had to press F5 between every move.
Didn't find this thread until afterward, so didn't try to access it from different clients or check the console before I closed down the tab, sorry. Will try that next time. Is there something in the console we could look out for or similar to help you identify the issue?

This has also been happening for me today and yesterday. Every single action requires a page refresh.
Have tried with different browsers. It's very, very frustrating. Occurred yesterday with Puerto Rico and Azul. I had to cancel Azul because the error makes it impossible to play. The error message "Verbindung zum Spielerserver getrennt"/ "Connection to player server disconnected" again today when logging in.
