I experienced the same bug. Another player was aggressive in discarding/drawing new tiles with the scout function and may have depleted the store of tiles. In the turn listing, it showed that player as having drawn a tile with Alien Research Team even though I was the one who had that tile. I could not take any actions or progress so the game was abandoned.

seems we had no tiles or close to no tiles left to pick from. I just explored for 3x +2$ and when I was about to get the bonus tile from alien research it just never offered a choice but I still had to choose a tile (out of none). Had to abort.

All tiles exhausted (??) and it says that player J gets a Alien research tile, when player K has the alien research tile, then player K can't do anything and we had to abandon.

Same as described, it wants me to pick a tile with Alien Research Team but gives me no tile to pick. Refreshing the page did not help.

It does also say in the sidebar that another player is supposed to be drawing, although I don't know if that's part of the problem or just an unrelated display bug.

same case occurs as a matching game, Wishard has the Alien Research Team,
he should draw the tile, but the game progress says "外星研究團隊: tinway 選擇 1 版塊"
,which means "Alien Research Team: tinway chooses 1 tile" .
Wishard cannot move forward.

I am leading far in that match, I don't know is it still court.

I am player liowal and I have the alien research team. An explore action was triggered and there are no more tiles in the draw pile... because I have the alien research team I am asked to chose the tile I want to keep but there's no tile to chosen. The game is totally stuck because of that.

I am supposed to pick tile for Alien Research Team in a turn-based game. The log says another player (who doesn't have the tile) took this action, but I don't think they did. It's possible the bag is out of tiles and its not telling us? Refreshing and trying different browsers didn't change anything.

Now the game won't proceed unless I actually take the action, but it's not showing me any cards. I can't play at all, and I'm concerned my time will run out if the other players don't agree to abandon, and I'll receive a penalty.

It looks like Alien Research Team blocks play once all other players grabbed the rest of the tiles. You need to incorporate a "don't use" button for it (or auto ignore if remaining tiles =0). Tried different browser and F5.

I had the alien research team.

This was the last turn. It is possible that there were no tiles left. It told me to pick the tile side but gave no choice.

Just hit this with table 59295289. I abandoned a bunch of tiles, and then at the end of the Explore phase, I was not presented with a tile to choose, even though the instructions were forcing me to choose a tile (which didn't exist). We had to abandon the game, because there was no way to progress.

Triggered by Alien Research Team.
It looks like game gave tiles incorrectly to another player, and also ran out of tiles.
The game was also instructing to keep a tile, but no tiles were made available for player to choose from.
Game was abandoned, so no one would be penalized.

This just happened to me at move 345 on table 89272786. I was docked 19 ELO and 10 karma for this bug. I would like my karma and ELO restored.

Obvious that we ran out of tiles. Previous player abandoned 4 tiles, and got only 4 back. Then the player with Alien Research Team had to pick a tile, but was given no tile options, and there's no way to pass or skip. Abandon is the ONLY way forward here, unless you want to wait for that player to not play and boot them, which seems wrong.

This bug happens on the last turn of the game (1 or more players are going to hit 12 tiles) when someone has chosen explore option. No tiles are produced to select from.

Bug occurred at move #284. Game required me to pick a time, when none were shown. Many explorations had been done this turn, possibly bag was empty (?).

Other players were sympathetic, and one pointed out that he'd seen this bug before. Was forced to abandon.

Game status message being displayed to me is "Alien Research Team: You must choose a tile to keep." but of course there's no tile being displayed for me to choose.

No one's bothered to look into this for ~3 years, so I guess I'll be forced into a loss of this tournament game that I'd otherwise win. :-(

This is the second time I have been in a game where this happened. A person had alien research team and we ran out of tiles so there were no tiles to pick. She tried refreshing to no avail. She said she had experienced it before in 5 player games. . I think We abondoned that one. Since then, I mostly avoid 5 player games (less chance to run out of tiles) but when I end up in one, I warn everyone not to build alien research team. Today I took that tile as there were only 4 players. Still, 2 or 3 turns to go, we ran out of tiles. Could not get past it. I wish I had asked them to abandon. I ended up timing out as we discussed it and they exiled and told me to try to get back in. Which I did. But of course I lost reputation. :(
I don’t see how you could not reproduce. I mean - you should get 5 players, scout a lot and buy that tile....

I picked the tile, but the log mistakenly shows it as being assigned to a different player (who does not control Alien Research Team). The game is now continuing to tell me to pick a tile, but I can't because I already selected once, and there is no way to proceed.

I built the this tech, next turn I did explore, I explored & stocked for the dice shown. Then it gave me another another tile, I chose the side I wanted and it was added to me board. It is stuck asking me to still pick a side. Game abandoned

only half way through 2-player game, so should be plenty of tiles yet.

Happened to me on the second turn <boardgamearena.com/1/rollforthegalaxy?table=130167946>. This is thew second round (turn #58 according to the top), so not out of tiles. I picked the tile, but the log says another player did. One difference from the above is that I get told "Explore: You must Scout or Stock" in Firefox. (In Chrome I get the "Alien Research Team: You must choose a tile to keep.") <imgur.com/a/UTrMu6o>. F5 did not help.

First I used a yellow die for stock to gain the Alien Archeology bonus.
Then performed scouting (with abandoned tiles).
After given the option to select an extra tile in the end of the explore turn and selecting one the game kept requesting me to select and eventually I got expelled.

Dear all,

The recent bug (< 2 days) which block the game AFTER picking the tile from Alien Research Team has been fixed.

However, this is pretty clear that there is another (way more older) bug with this tile.

We introduced today (Dec 11st 2020) something to allow us to have a better understanding on this bug. To continue working on this, we would need some more examples of tables ID with this bug, with tables created after Dec 11st 2020 15:00 GMT.

Thanks for your help for fix this issue.

I had Alien Research tile and had to choose between 2 tiles. I select the world side, it went on my board and the game interface still required me to choose between 2 tiles, but there were no more tiles to chosen from.

I deliberately provoked the bug. I can do so at will, but it takes a few minutes to run out of tiles to draw.

At the very end of the game, Alien Research Team triggered after all tiles had already been drawn out of the bag. However, the game behaved as if it was during the Explore phase, asking if I wanted to scout, abandon, or trade for $2. No option allowed the game to proceed. Reloading presented the same question. Only option was to abandon. There's also probably a bug there with abandon--I attempted to abandon a tile to make one available to draw via Alien Research Team, and it allowed me, but still didn't allow me to scout a new tile, with error "No dice left to perform this action."

I also encountered this problem yesterday.

[Light purple circles] I have the ALIEN RESEARCH TEAM, but my opponent can draw and keep 1 more tile.

[Light blue circles] After my opponent draws and keeps 1 more tile, I draw and keep 1 more tile. (That means, the ability of ALIEN RESEARCH TEAM occur both for my opponent and me.) But after I do so, the statement on the top still says "You must choose a tile to keep."

P.S. Since I am playing 5 "Roll for the Galaxy" games in total and I cannot play the other 4 games now, I may need to abandon this game...

Alien Research Team: Dinathedestroyer picks 0 tiles.

But "Dinathedestroyer" does not have the Alien Research Team tile - I do.

The UI says I must choose a tile to keep, but there are no available choices and no option to pass

Same problem. The bag was empty, and the game got stuck on the Alien Research Team.

The end of the log (in reverse chronological order):
"Alien Research Team: Chris Nelson picks 0 tiles.
WARNING: still not enough tiles in the bag :(
There are not enough tiles in the bag: all abandoned tiles are returned to the bag."

Note that Chris Nelson was *not* the player who had Alien Research Team in his tableau.
