F5 did not solve the problem.
The error message has not gone away, although I haven't tried canceling the attack yet.

Additional note: I was allowed to cancel the attack and continue the game, but I could not resume the attack. I attacked a different sector, and it is now another player's turn to respond, so I do not know if I can continue my initial attack or not. Or if the player was eliminated.

We have this happen today too. See table 425778992. The message is displayed at the top but doesn't seem to affect anything yet. The player's homeworld is not yet destroyed.

F5 did not solve the problem.
I was playing Red and attacked by Blue and Yellow, and both of them failed to eliminate me. Each extra attack were reported as a "server error"
I was still able to move and even distroyed Yellow! But I wasn't able to vote to abandon this game.
After that turn I was able to be eliminated as normal.
